GoingOffGrid Pt2
By Jon Archer
The day after the Tesla PowerWall install and I’ve configured the device in Home Assistant with some rudimentary additions to existing dashboards. The integration has a wealth of useful information.
I especially like the ability to take our connection off grid. Taking the useful information above it can be easily integrated into the Energy dashboard, you are then presented with graphs and the extra node on the energy map widget.
This graph displays all elements of energy production and use, solar generation (yellow), grid consumption (blue), grid return (purple), battery charge (pink) and battery use (green). A metric geeks heaven.
Unfortunately today has been a fairly overcast day so not much solar generation has occurred, and therefore not much charge has gone into the battery, Hopefully we should see some fine days soon so I can get a feel for how much I can be truly off grid.
Once I’m up and running I will start looking at potentially having automation’s to automatically take the house off grid when certain thresholds are met. More to follow…
